You have to see this beauty to fully appreciate it. The grain and colours of the Russian poplar are exquisite. The design and legs are inspired by the first coffee table that I made with the root base. The legs are each hand steamed, bent and laminated, made from alternating pieces of western red cedar and Sitka spruce. The design is simple,sleak, elegant and finishes off this masterpiece.
The top came from two pieces of Russian poplar salvaged from a tree that was nearing its end. The ‘river’ cut into the top, joins the natural defects with the artist’s imagination. This piece from conception to finalization took about two years but the final product is absolutely stunning. Another work of art handcrafted in Haida Gwaii by Unique’D Furniture.
